Sansevieria Kristi

The new variety Kristi is part of the “compact sansevieria varieties”. It can reach 30 cm in length, with an average of approximately 6 leaves per plant. The plant is shaped like an inverted pyramid, the arrangement of the leaves is in the form of a rosette. Shows colors very similar to its parent variety (Black Gold Superba). However Kristi shows semi twisted blades, dark green coloration in the center and horizontal lines on the upper surface of mature leaves. The yellow margins are variegated with horizontal stripes.

The new Sansevieria ‘Kristi’ originated from a naturally-occurring mutation of the Sansevieria ‘Black Gold Superba’ (unpatented). The new Sansevieria ‘Kristi’ was discovered and selected by the inventor, Marvin Gonzalez Villegas, as a single flowering plant within the progeny of the stated mutation in a controlled environment in 2005 in Monterrey, San Carlos, Alajuela province, Costa Rica.

Asexual reproduction of the new Sansevieria cultivar by vegetative cuttings was first performed in November 2005 in Monterrey, San Carlos, Alajuela, Costa Rica and has demonstrated that the combination of characteristics as herein disclosed for the new cultivar are firmly fixed and retained through successive generations of asexual reproduction. The new cultivar reproduces true to type.
